The Latin American business is based on a 40+ year partnership Whirlpool Corporation has maintained with Brasmotor S.A. Whirlpool Corporation acquired a majority position of Brasmotor in 1997. Whirlpool Corporation is integrating Brasmotor's operations in Multibras S.A. Eletrodomas, Empresa Brasileira de Compressores S.A. (Embraco), and Whirlpool Argentina into the wider Whirlpool Corporation global network.

Multibras commands the largest market share and one-third of the manufacturing capacity of the region. Embraco is the world's leading producer of hermetically sealed household compressors.
