Daniel F. Hopp was named senior vice president, Corporate Affairs, and general counsel in March 1998. In April 2007 he assumed the additional responsibilities of secretary of the corporation.

Hopp joined the company as an attorney in 1979. He was promoted to assistant secretary and legal counsel in April 1984 and to corporate secretary and assistant general counsel in October 1985. He was elected corporate vice president, general counsel and secretary in June 1989. Prior to joining Whirlpool, Hopp practiced law with the firm of Mayer, Brown and Platt in Chicago.

A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Hopp earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1969 and a juris doctor degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 1973, where he graduated summa cum laude.

He serves on the board of directors of Horizon Bank of Michigan City, Indiana; Cornerstone Alliance in Benton Harbor, Michigan; and is Chairman of the Board for Lakeland Healthcare in St. Joseph, Michigan. He is a member of the Michigan, Illinois and Berrien County Bar Associations and is a past president of the Chicago Chapter of the American Society of Corporate Secretaries. He formerly served on the Justice Initiatives Committee of the State Bar of Michigan, the St. Joseph City Planning Commission and on the board of the Council for World Class Communities.
