Appliance Resource Consumption

Home appliances are important in reducing overall household emissions, which consume an average of 15 percent of a home's total energy.

Whirlpool has been recognized by various sources globally for its efforts and commitment to developing and producing environmentally friendly, resource-efficient products.

Whirlpool recently received the ENERGY STAR(R) Sustained Excellence 2007 Award from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This special award was given to a select group of organizations that are exhibiting outstanding environmental leadership year after year, while sustaining product and marketing excellence. This unique honor represents the company's second consecutive Sustained Excellence Award, and the eighth overall ENERGY STAR Award win -- a feat unmatched by any other home appliance manufacturer.

Whirlpool Latin America had the highest number of refrigerators and freezers with the PROCEL Energy Efficiency Label in 2005 of any company in Brazil.  PROCEL is a Brazilian government program focused on energy savings.
