Global Resource Efficiency and Whirlpool Innovation

Whirlpool Corporation continues to play a leading role in the development of innovative techology and high efficiency home appliance products that save energy and water resources for consumers in markets worldwide. Whirlpool took its leadership to a new level in 2003 by being the first major appliance company to announce a global greenhouse gas reduction target that will be achieved in substantial part through the indirect emission reduction effect of producing resource efficient appliances.

In the United States, Whirlpool has been an active partner of the ENERGY STAR® Program since August 1998, and has been honored with the ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award eight times (1999-2002, 2004-2007). During this time, Whirlpool has designed and produced a number of appliance models across seven product categories specifically for the ENERGY STAR program. The company's long-term commitment to manufacturing and marketing resource efficient appliances was recognized with special ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Awards in 2006 and 2007.

The company offers consumers a full range of energy-efficient products that reduce home energy costs. Whirlpool ENERGY STAR qualified appliances, such as the Whirlpool brand Duet®  and CabrioTM washers, and the Maytag Ice2O TM refrigerator, provide exceptional levels of energy efficiency that meet or exceed government guidelines. Currently, Whirlpool manufacturers over 550 ENERGY STAR qualified products under the Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana and other brand and trade partner names.

Whirlpool Canada, Inc. is also active in the Canadian ENERGY STAR Program. In recognition of its outstanding work in promoting the benefits of energy efficiency to Canadians, Whirlpool Canada was honored by Natural Resources Canada with the first Special Recognition Award for ENERGY STAR in Canada. The award reflects a long-standing commitment by Whirlpool Canada to set new energy efficiency standards in the appliance industry.

In Brazil, the company has been recognized for its broad range of Brastemp and Consul brand kitchen, laundry and air conditioning products that are qualified under the Brazilian government's Procel program. And in Europe, the company offers consumers a number of energy efficient appliances that meet or exceed energy savings requirements.  As the company continues to develop new and innovative products, consumers worldwide will benefit from the better efficiency and energy savings.
