2016 Skilled Trade Camp for young people grades 9-12

news-TALENT-02Whirlpool Corporation’s, Clyde Operations partnered with Terra State Community College to host a skilled trade camp for high school aged kids (Freshman – Senior). How exciting to have almost 20 Clyde Operation employee’s high school students exploring a career in skilled trades! This camp was geared around practical instruction and hands on experience to give students a better understanding of what a career in skilled trades has to offer.

This four day camp exposed students to the technical portions within the trades. Students spent time understanding the safety aspect of the crafts, the technical component, troubleshooting and completed hands on projects related to the trades. Throughout the week students spent time in the Welding Lab, learning how to MIG weld and created individual projects.

In the Robotic Lab students learned how to operate and  program PLC for the robot. All the students made flashlight pens in the Machining Lab and in the Electrical lab the students made lamps and a rocket launchers.

We are proud to be a part of this program that allowed student the opportunity to explore a great career in skilled trades.
