news-DEI2017Our company has been recognized as one of the best places to work for people with disabilities on the 2017 Disability Equality Index® (DEI®) Best Places to Work, joining a small league of companies with a 100/100 score.

Employee Resource Group AVID (Awareness of Visible and Invisible Disabilities) completed the DEI® Best Places to Work survey for the first time this year. The group was delighted when they received the news Whirlpool Corporation had achieved a 100/100 score. Their vision is to enable Whirlpool professionals and consumers with disabilities to reach their full potential.

news-AVID-2017-2“This recognition is an honor to receive,” said Carey Martin, VP HR and AVID Executive Sponsor. “I would like to personally thank our AVID members. Over the past two years they have been dedicated to their mission of creating a fully inclusive work environment and promoting equality for people with visible and invisible disabilities by engaging our company, our employees, and the community.”

“This survey educated and brought in more people to AVID. It brought disability awareness to every part of the company,” said Graham Forsey, AVID ERG Lead. “I think it is going to help us with continuous improvement and that’s how we’ll keep our 100/100 score.”

Top-scoring companies were recognized at the U.S. Business Leadership Network (USBLN) Annual Conference, “Disability: A Catalyst for Innovation” on August 23. The recognition of being a “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion” is reserved for those companies that have scored 80 or above on the DEI.
