American Made: NewsNation features Whirlpool in their Made in America Series

As part of its “American Made” series spotlighting American manufacturing, NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas visited Whirlpool Corporation’s World of Whirlpool and the Clyde, Ohio manufacturing facility to see how the only major appliance maker based and owned in the U.S. designs and builds its products here at home.

“We started here 115 years ago. We stayed here. We’re committed to America. It is our legacy and our background.”

“We started here 115 years ago. We stayed here,” Robert Moser, vice president of design, told NewsNation. “We’re committed to America. It is our legacy and our background.”

The story spotlights Whirlpool’s continued investment in American manufacturing — including the company’s new factory in Perrysburg, Ohio — and what that commitment means for the communities where Whirlpool operates.

“A lot of these small towns, they rely on us. We’re the ecosystem for them,” added Jason Ebert, senior vice president of manufacturing.

“Whirlpool could be just weathering the storm right now, but no, we’re seeing this as a time to actually invest and double down on our American heritage,” Moser said. “And that’s what these investments in the factories represent. It’s about expanding our capacity and doing it here at home.”
